the Hartman | gallery | venue | b&b is pleased to share some exciting details about our upcoming bed and breakfast. This spring, renovations will wrap up on our second floor space and our gallery space will transition to a bed and breakfast as well as a gallery. You can expect the same vintage charm you have come to know from the Hartman.
As in all areas of the Hartman, the bed and breakfast will be committed to local talent and sourcing pieces directly from owners, local artists and antique dealers. You can be sure that each piece that graces the rooms will be special and add to the experience of your stay. Many of the pieces you will find here are heirloom from our personal collection. Just ask and we can tell you about each piece and the history and story behind it. Vintage, rustic chic is our specialty.
All of the décor Is influenced by mid century modern Italian and French style with hints of nature and organic pieces. The rooms will be dotted with wooden stumps taken from the property used for accent and end tables.
The space itself is incredibly unique. Unlike anywhere that you have stayed before. Climb the beautiful wrought iron staircase to the upper floor, sleep in the upper level of a historical church. At one point this church was the focal point of the community. Built in 1899 many of the original aspects of the church remain intact such as the gorgeous wooden floors and stunning gothic windows.
The upper floor is comprised of 3 bedrooms. Each one unique in its own way. Choose to stay in the loft room or the middle room. Modern touches with half glass walls add to this one of a kind experience. Or choose the Altar Room. Making this room extra special is the dome set into the wall that was once the altar of the church that ran from the bottom floor to the roof. Each of the rooms are beautiful custom spaces with a bright and airy feel, yet they still have a calm and cocoon like feel.
Each of the pieces have been chosen deliberately to add to the charm of the space. Like the beautiful Mid-Century Modern Brown Leather Tubular Chrome Settee after Rodney Kinsman, the black mid century modern Dunbar chair, the black velvet wooden chair, and our beautiful vintage book collection. As well as small, handpicked items like our vintage alarm clock and instruments, beautiful jewellery dishes and one of a kind antique carafes.
Each room will showcase art from local artists. We love supporting and encouraging local talent in the space. This ensures the gallery feel remains. Adding to this gallery experience are the beautiful white walls, high ceilings and track lighting. The first artist that we will be showcasing the space is the incomparable Jeff Nye and his stunning abstract art. All of the art is not only available to view but also to purchase.
We are so excited to open this upper floor to our guests. We are thrilled to showcase local artistic talent and create a unique and wonderful stay. Our goal is for you to walk away rested, reinvigorated and inspired.
